So what is next step when the lube trick does not work? Mine does not open nor does the lock move when I press the lock/unlock button (other 4 doors work just fine). I ASSUME that I need to crawl inside and remove door panel to manually free up the works?

With the Land Rover badge removed, you can push the latch handle back down through the hole where the badge was, then push it back down and up again. I had to do that 30 or 40 times to really get mine freed up and working properly

I also had to do the same with my door hinges and the check strap down under the rear door. Once I got that all loosened up,...I then cleaned up the lower check strap and the slot in the bottom of the door, and applied Lithium grease (any grease would work probably) to it.....working much better,. but still feels a bit tights. Thinking my hinges are full of rust,.....the truck came out of Colorado.
