Rear Wheel Hub Leak
My driver's side rear wheel hub (03' 55k) has been leaking for a while. At first I could see the caliper looking "wet". After I topped off the rear diff with Mobil 1 synthetic 75w90 that leak seemed to have slowed down quite a bit. I'll check the breather tube tomorrow. If that is not the problem I have a few questions:
1] Is it ok to use heavier oil in the rear diff (e.g. 75w140) and regular weight (75w90) in the front diff and t-case?
2] I've read a couple posts here and still am not sure whether the D2 hub seal is replaceable or not. Can I just have the hub seal replaced or do I need a new hub?
Thanks.
Alan

The heavier oil may slow the leak down a little but at some point the brake pads will get wet.
Time to start looking for another hub, consider a guaranteed used on from Roverlandparts.com

Most likely it is not the hub leaking but the axle seal.
Remove the hub and there is a seal where the hub mates to the axle, that seal goes bad, its like a $3 part but you must remove the hub to replace it.
