rear window seals
I just ordered the seals for the rear windows (the ones below the alpine windows). Tried doing a search but came up empty. My existing seals are dry rotted and ready for replacement before they start leaking. Has anyone done this before or do I have to have a glass company do it? How and what tools would I need?
Thanks 98 disco 1

The Glass and the seals are held in with urethane. You will need a urethane cutting tool to remove it and new urethane to install. This is not a very difficult job to complete, that being said there is alot that could go wrong if you haven't done one previously. The urethane behind the seals is what is actually holding back the leaks. Good luck either way you go.

When I had my windshield replaced last month I asked the glass guy about the same thing. You're probably better off getting them done professionally for the reasons listed by Goose_Cat. Don't bother looking for used seals. If you're lucky they'll be in the same condition as your current one, then you have to actually remove them which can cause even more damage. Windows are one of the few parts that don't leak on these trucks, don't add them to the list.
Disco I's are not like Disco II's you can get the seals from Rover Connnection
or Atlantic Brritish .
The seals cost about $45 per side,,,,,,make sure that they put the seals
in the right way or the seal will need replacing in a year.
I took mine to a glass shop and they charged $20 per side but I had
to pull the inside interior out of the way I was happy to do that
so if it got broke I did it.
