Default Rear wiper sucks

My 2003 D2 and my brothers 2000 D2 have rear wipers that do not wipe the rear glass fully, will miss the top few inches. My rear arm was replaced 4 years ago when I got my truck because the one on the truck was broken. Since then I have not had a wiper that will wipe the area it is supposed to wipe cleanly. I don't get it? I tried different brands of wipers and no difference. I hope i can get some ideas from you guys. Thanks.

Mine was missing when I bought my 2003 Disco II. I will hopefully install it today and have more info for you. I had a car that I had to bend the arm a little to get full coverage, I believe due to the spring getting weak over the years. I tried to shorten the spring, but that was not possible on that car.

I'm not sure yet if this arm is Plastic (Unbendable), or metal.

I had this problem on a Volvo, lube the pivot point on the wiper arm.
Use silicone spray.

I put a d1 arm on the back too. Kind of have to rig the sprayer, but black zip ties work.

D1 arm? Will need to look into it. I have D1 arms for the front, so why not?

At the bottom of this page:

DI wipers - LAND ROVER CLUB V.I.

He shows how to do the rear wiper arm and sprayer.

Are the DI arms metal? I just noticed yesterday that the DII is plastic, so no bending it to get a stronger push. Still have not installed it, been too busy.

EDIT: Oops. Just read the thread and see metal. Sorry about that.

Yeah, and they work great. I never could get the rear wiper to work very well either, and eventually the plastic deforms enough that the arm will start to rub the glass. My rear window has an annoying groove worn in it. I assume a new plastic arm would help a little bit, but then you are still stuck using hard to find blades.

I may forgo installing my used DII arm I just picked up and find a DI arm instead. I like that I can bend it tighter later in life if needed, and Standard Blades.

PS: Went to the snow again last night; Sierra Ski Ranch on HWY 50 between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe. DII did great as expected. BUT... I pulled across HWY 50 quickly to beat a line of traffic. As I did, the Disco spun all the way around. It was fun, but also a little woah. I ended up facing backwards in my lane.

It's funny, I've driven in snow much of my life, and this is the first time I've done that. My wife didn't say much, but I believe a swear word came out of my mouth! If you knew me, you'd know how funny that is.

There were dozens of crashes, we watched 2 happen directly in front of us, a new AWD BMW and a Pickup. Took us about 8 hours to travel around 30 miles there and back. Was lots of fun though. Many times the traffic was stopped for long periods of time, 30 mins to 2 hours, so everyone was out of their cars playing in the snow.

The rear wiper arm is plastic so there is no adjustment. I could convert the arm with a D1 but will look odd due to the tie straps needed to hold the sprayer in place. I bought a Trico direct fit rear wiper, but the mounts are different and does not clip in place, I just took the rubber out and fit into my original blade, works better but upper part of rear glass does not get wiped. I am just accepting a lot of things these trucks do, I was **** at first but realize I am just wasting my time. All I care now is that the truck is running well and looks decent. I have way too much invested in this damn thing now to walk away hehe.
