If you head over to v8british.org and look at their forums, you'll find a lot more information on aftermarket land rover engines. Over there they only talk about putting big v8 engines in little cars, like the MG.

Is your block at the machinist? Did you remove your liners yourself or are they going to machine them out? How did you find your machinist? Remind your machinist it is an interference fit of minimum 0.0025" to 0.004" so that the liners are nice and tight in the block.

That junk on the bottom of the your pan makes me wanna pull mine and see whats in it.... nasty.

As far as a cam goes, that would be a great addition to a trail rig for sure... looking at the specs. Keep us posted on that because I'm definitely interested in adding more down low grunt. Cam, with these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hed-39800

and a free flow exhaust would do wonders for this truck.

I will be sending the block to Q&E in California some time this week. I believe he is knowledgable in these engines but any input would be helpful. My machinist said he would do it (he builds Top Fuel engines) but does not do much in the way of Rover stuff. He recommends sending it out (price is the same anyways). I am going to head over to V8British any see what they have been doing.
Thanks

Hey MuddMouth
I have been looking into headers but I only found long tube and I would like to find shorties, the hunt continues.
As for the oil pan, when I started to clean it I thought the bottom was smooth and just really black then I put my finger into it as was shocked. The sludge was so thick (3/4" atleast) and plugging the oil drain hole which shocked me, how do you change the oil? I have rebuilt many engines and this one was really abused by the last owner which looked like he never had clean oil ever do to scoring on the crank, the cylinder walls aren't any better. I'll keep you posted on the cam.

I just found these on the UK Ebay which are off the P38 Range Rover and are stainless steel. The UK ones won't work but the north american ones might and might be a option to the restrictive cast units.
Any thoughts?
