Recall protocol
Having owned my Disco for less than 2 years, I am wondering what the procedure is for verifying if my truck has received all corrective remedies as required by all pertinent recalls? Research them per the hyperlink on this site and take the copies to my local dealer? Have the records at Land Rover been accurately maintained to reflect all affected vehicles? Further, will Rover fix mine for free if their records indicate my vehicle missed a recall or two even though the recall may be several years old? There are some significant repairs for the 2000 model year.
Thanks in advance for anyone who has had experience in dealing with this subject.

Nevr mind - I found this posted by Big Mike (I should have looked first before posting the previous ditty), though I would be interested in hearing from someone if they had a bad experience from the dealer when trying to get this corrected for their truck:
Hey folks. I read a thread on another Land Rover site in which people that bought used Discos didn't seem to know the protocol for checking recalls. So for anyone that doesn't know, this process is quite simple.
1. Go to the NHTSA website. They have the recalls for every make and model.
2. Call Land Rover NA and tell them your VIN number. They'll be able to tell you if the recall work has been done on your vehicle. If it hasn't, take it to a dealer. The recall service is free.
That's it. Happy trails

Here's another way to possibly find out what recall work was done on your Disco: Our 2000 Disco II has metal plates/tags that the dealership affixed to the engine bay, one for each recall that was performed. If you raise the hood of your Disco and see in front of the radiator (or maybe under the hood, or somewhere else inside the engine bay) one or more metal tags with some info filled out on each one, those are records of recall service having been performed. Good Luck.
Always go to the dealer and ask them to run your vi. At the same time ask them for your radio code if you don't have it as well as all the options Rove added to your truck when built. At that time they will let you know if there are any recalls that have not been performed and will do them at no cost to you.
