I have always assumed a 3” lift is only possible when you put Heavy rate springs on a not heavily loaded truck?

Or maybe add spring spacers?

i have MD Terrafirma springs and was thinking of getting HD versions to get some more height.

I find the rear MD springs too soft when both rear wheels hit a bump at the same time. The rear dips too much. I don’t have sliders and still have the plastic rear bumper.
Call Lucky8. They have the Terrafirma which is what I got with the 4stage adjustable shocks.

I’ve had 2” and 3” springs from RTE with zero issues. Two sets of 2”, one for the discovery and one for an RRC I had. Eventually swapped in 3” RTE’s on the discovery. I’ve had the 3” the longest and they still look brand new after you blast the mud and dirt off. Now I’ve read that RTE changed ownership and some claimed quality issues but I the last set I bought was years before the ownership change.

And before anyone chimes in, you don’t have to do anything when you go to a 3” spring. I have made zero changes to the suspension besides the springs and I have zero issues.

Do you have standard length shocks with your 3" springs or did you get extended ones.

I am curious if extended shocks will require new brake lines and ABS extensions, crossmember drops and/or modified watts link?

Back to the primary topic...I am thinking that the Terrafirma medium duty springs are not really suitable for the D2.

I took a picture of my rear springs with the truck sitting unloaded on my driveway. The top coils are nearly touching each other. These springs only have 30,000 km on them.

The Terrafirma catalogue mentioned something about these springs not achieving a full 2" lift. Seems like the truck is too heavy for the soft part of these progressive springs.

I should have added that I feel this only applies to the rear springs. The front have been fine. Only the rear of the truck has tight coils and feels weak when hitting bumps on both wheels at the same time. There was also no warning from Terrafirma on the front MD springs.

I have TF +2 shocks installed but they are the same shocks I had with the 2” springs. I never modified the watts link, extended the ABS extensions or dropped the cross member.

If you wheel it hard then the "cross member" will need to be removed and brake lines extended (never a bad idea to switch to stainless lines anyways...). An extended watts link will help rear articulation but these trucks are limited by the radius arms binding before the watts really becomes a severely limiting factor.
