rectifier stud solution
I was removing my alternator last night and I spun the stud for the rectifier, and before I'm scolded about not being careful with it, I'm well aware of the potential of these to turn, but the nut was frozen in place. but to get to the point I took it to a local electrical shop, and the tech and I came up with a easy solution I wanted to share. the stud has a wire and a ring attached to the bottom of it, and rectifiers though they can be had are difficult to get, and expensive. so what we did was removed the stud completely and removed the ring. soldered a wire lead out of the back similar to a d1. added a factory style plug to that lead and also to the factory wire. now no more stud and nut, just an easy to remove plug
yeah I didn't really want to scrap a perfectly good alternator. I'm really stoked that I was able to save it. I see a lot of really good solutions to problems on the forum, I was just kinda excited when I stumbled onto an easy fix myself!
