Default Regeared steering box?

Question 1: Has anyone tried a quick-ratio steering box such as http://www.lrparts.net/quick-ratio-steering-box-left-hand-drive-for-discovery-2.html ? (Sorry, very annoying that it doesn't state what the ratio is) If so, how did you like it? Was it a big improvement over the stock truck-like steering ratio?
Question 2: Does this type of upgrade put a greater strain on the stock steering pump?
Question 3: Reman is $300 cheaper than new. Is this one of those times where I'd regret going cheap? If all they reuse is the housing, reman is just as functional as new in my limited understanding.

Wife isn't a fan of the stock steering ratio, having to go arm over arm to make a right hand turn and I'm kind of indifferent, so when the time comes that I need a new steering box anyway, I wouldn't mind upgrading so long as it doesn't adversely affect other components.

I have never known of a 'quick' steering box but the D2 could do with one. One criticism of the D2 is it has the most atrocious turning circle. Even my ancient Pajero has a far tighter turning circle than the D2. The other gripe is the steering 'full lock' relief valve is non existent or very poor as the manual even recommends that you don't hold the steering against full lock as it will do damage to the steering or pump.

Do they list specs? Looking at it with my phone in don't see any.

I wonder how much better it is. The manual box from my 90 was over 4 turns lock to lock. The power box I put in was 3.something.

I don't think a regeared steering box will change the turning circle diameter of the car, just how quick the steering responds (# of turns to lock). I'd love to know what other mods would be required to change that though.

It won't, you are correct. It'll just be quicker lock to lock.

Pretty sure the one from the link is 2.7 turns to lock. There are several UK based company's and all are 2.7. Haven't found anyone local.
