regular gas?
I think PTSchram had a selling price of around $200 with headbolts included.
Oh and I ran regular gas in my RRC for 7 years and 80k miles with no issues, just saying. Mine didn't say premium fuel though just unleaded.

not sure what the point of that video was, putting premium fuel in a chevy cruze.
they should have tried putting regular fuel in a Range Rover Evoque and figured out why gas companies offer premium fuel.
like it was stated, consumers need to be educated before purchasing anything. you wouldn't walk blindly into a used car dealer and ask the sales guy what car you should buy.

We have a 2002 Disco II. It is my fiancee's truck and we've been together one year so that's how long I have known the truck. One day I asked her to put regular gas (she always used premium) and the timing changed or something because it ran horribly. It would buck and was definitely not smooth. Had to go back to premium.
MIke,
Good point.
At 15,000 miles a year, 1000 gallons of gas..
Saving the $.30 cents a gallon - but offset with worse MPG.
So, it may be a ZERO sum game.
If the regular gas crowd even loses 1 MPG - then the $.30 cents savings is negated.
Well put.
So, then the person who affectionately rubs the penniess together
does not even get a discount or savings when the head gaskets blow out
from pinging with regular gas.. As their MPG is less.
Maybe all the blown head gaskets are regular gas and partially bad knock sensors..
Maybe the head gaskets with scorched crowns are simply that.
And the head gaskets that fail near the water jackets - just FAIL without provocation.

we have individual coffins. what does that mean?
It has nothing to do with fuel, but just demonstrates how some silly things are related. IMHO if the oil companies have been able to pull this over on the skeptical public since the 1940's, there would be national chains that just sold one blend. It's like beer, lots of flavors. Or Coca Cola - Coke Zero, Diet Coke, and high octane regular Coke.
Those videos make a valid point BUT they seem to point more to people with normal vehicles of which the manual does not recommend premium. There is a difference between using premium because your manual recommends it and using premium becasue "you think its good for your car". Either schedule a interview with Land Rover and a top dog oil company OR open up your owners manual and follow those recommendations as they know what is best for your vehicle.
Conclusion: If the manual says premium then use premium. If your manual says regular unleaded then use regular unleaded.

I never said not to use new head bolts. Plus your wrong 195.00 WITH headbolts So get off my nuts.
So far everyone talking about the negated savings is missing the point. This thread is about wether the disco she was buying was "junk" because it had regular gas ran through it. Which nobody has been able to post one fact about.
