Default Repair recommendations...

Hi guys,

I have read landroverforums for quite some time and got invaluable advice from here (e.g., I "diagnosed" my driveshaft's chirping sound and brought my DII to the shop, upon the people there said I was so lucky and got it repaired there in time.) Unfortunately, for my current problem, I didn't find any good match -- if there is anything missing, I pre-apologize...

So, last week I had a small accident on the 405 (Los Angeles) and luckily it seems that my DII didn't have too much of a damage (didn't see the other car, though, but the officer told me that nobody got hurt!) Now, I am not a 100pct sure whom to bring this for repair. Is this something any body shop can repair, or do I need to go to a LR dealer? The Newport Beach LR dealer nearest to my location has a bad reputation, is there another shop/dealer in Orange County (ideally near to Univ. of California, Irvine) anybody here would recommend?
Should the aluminum rim also be checked for cracks, or be replaced?

Thanks a lot for any help and have a nice new year's eve!

Sorry i am not from that area, just curious what did the drive shaft cost you? And did they get you a upgrade or a factory or rebuild yours? And i am glad you dud not get injured!!! Hopefully your our their insurance will pay for the damage because the front bumper cover is expensive, the fender is pretty cheap. The wheel is probably fine but it wont hurt to have it checked anyway.

Happy New Year!
Drew

Hi Drew!

Thanks for your quick reply. Re the driveshaft: as far as I remember, it cost about 400 dollars for rebuilding mine. Around here the price was quoted cheaper, but the quotes were older and as far as I remember not in the LA metropolitan area (even though I wouldn't have driven it away from my shop anyways )

Do you sell the Rear Shaft or rebuild them? As soon as I save the $300 again, I plan to pick up one of the fronts from you. Holidays have depleted everything! 3 Daughters, 2 Grandsons, 1 Current Wife, 2 Mistresses, etc... (just kidding about the mistresses )

Any body shop can do the work.
If there is no visible damage to the rim its fine.
They will have to replace the fender and bumper.
Its a nuts and bolts job from the looks of it, not a hard enough hit to worry about the frame.
