Default REPLACING HEATER CONTROLS

I have purchased a replacement heater control unit for my wife's 95 Disco and am stumped at trying to remove the radio and the faceplate of the heater control unit itself. I'm sure there are simple steps but my prodding and prying have brought me to the edge of breaking something.

Many thanks for your thoughts and ideas.

Peter

I have just got a 1994 Disco and have only just started playing with pulling it apart, but this may get you started, if 1994 is similar to 1995.

Below the heat controls on mine is the ash tray and drink holder. I pulled out the ash tray and this exposed screws at the back. Then on other side of drink hold is few switchs (symetrical to ashtray) which pull out like ash tray and more screws, undo screws (6) on mine, then you can pull out drink holder and see if that allows you to get to what is holding the radio/heater unit. I haven't yet pulled the radio out.

For those who may come across the same problem, the control ***** can be removed with a little gentle prying with a small screwdriver. Under the left and right ***** are phillips screws which when removed, allow for removal of the faceplate. The control unit itself is anchored by four additional phillips screws, one at each corner.

Have found all the screws to remove the whole radio, drink tray and heater panel. Description for 1994 Disco.

1. to left and right of drink tray remove ash tray and small switch panel, each will pop out with a bit of help, 3 screws behind each. Can then remove drink tray section.
2. remove left and right heater ****, by just pulling straight out. screw behind each.
3. remove heater face panel, 4 screws hold heater in.
4. pop out the small compartments to left and right of heater, screws behind these
5. (tricky) remove radio by slipping straight out but beaway that there are 2 catches on either side that stop this, take time. be patience
6. with radio out 2 screws facing straight up.

and then you should be able to remove the whole mid section

I ended up totalling my radio, which didn't work anyway. Remember the 4 screws in my old toyota and wonder what has happen to the world.

The radio can be removed using a small allen key.

I just removed the radio and pushed from behind my heater controls with a long flat head screw driver. There were no screws holding it in. I have a 95 disco
