Default replacing lower section of drivers seat

Has anybody replaced the lower section of the drivers seat on a DII? If so, how difficult was it? My rover has power seats but not heated.

The reason I want to do this is the driver seat has ripped leather but the rest of the seat and the rest of the rover has perfect leather. I know somebody that is parting out a DII with the same interior.

I would just replace the whole seat. That is simple, unbolt, unplug and take out.

I've never tried it. Try taking out the whole seat in the truck now and see if you can get the bottom part off easily with the entire thing out.

Go to a leather shop and just get the seat recoverd with matching leather.
By the way, you do have seat heaters in your seat, just no switch to activate it. Go to Atlantic British and order the switch and trim plate and you'll be set for this winter.
Also, start saddling soaping your seat twice a year and then put Lexol on them and they won't crack or tear any more.

I went to a local upholstery guy to get a quote a while back. He had a shop behind his house so his over head should be low. He said he didn't have that exact leather and would have to order a roll and quoted me something like $300 to do the job, I thought that sounded high. Also, the samples he showed me were not exact matches. Any ideas what it should cost to re-cover the lower section of the seat?

mike, thanks for the tip about the heated seat. I did not know that.
