Default Replacing Timing Chain and Gears

2001 SE7 4.0 have everything off. My question is ....is the cam shaft gear bolt a left or right handed tread? Bolt seems awful tight and don't want it to snap on me. Thanks for ANY replies.

Down load the Rave CD and read up on it. How many miles on your truck, why aren't your replacing the oil pump assembly at the same time?

The Rave manual does not specify direction of threads. Counter clockwise to remove.

Always go to the manual or the Rave, no reason for us to look up what you can look up, especially when there are 20 people a day on each of the 4 forums I over see, that way you can save the hard questions for us after you have researched it on your own.

It's a regular "right hand" thread bolt in there if I remember correctly. Just did it a few months back and don't recall having any problems with it. That's why I said it's a regular bolt in there. I am sure I would remember if it was a "left hand" thread.

Hope this helps.

Bolt was really tight but it did come out. Thanks for the help. Will be putting the pieces back together with lots of sealant in corners and where ever it appears a leak would come from.

ok so I am putting the oil pump gears into the front cover and they appear to be tighter than usual. After putting the plate back on I noticed that they are harder to turn. Is this normal or should I take them out and see if theter are burred edges. The old pump gears were not broken and I did have good pressure. BUT I don't want to have to replace them anytime soon and I figure if it's open throw them in. Any Ideas?? Thanks
