Default Replacing valve cover gaskets, wires and plugs

As the title says I'm going to be replacing these parts this weekend. I just have a couple of questions. First, should I use any type of silicone or gasket sealer for the valve cover gaskets? Second, I've developed a really annoying valve tick (or what sounds like a valve tick) and would like to know if there is any way I could check this since the covers will be off? Any input would be much appreciated. Also, I'm a new member and would like to say WOW!, this is a great forum!!! I look foward to learning from you all,

Thanks
BTW: It's a 99' Discovery 2, 106,000 mi.

Exhaust leaks will/can tick, need to crawl under and check for exhaust stains caused from leaks, from the manifold to the cats.

To answer your first question, you do not need any sealer or silicone for the valve covers, you just need the new rubber gaskets.

Oh, and Welcome!
