Default The results are in... Help?

Alright so last week i posted a topic about my "service engine soon" light coming on and I was told to get the codes from Auto zone, so here is what I got:

PO455
-Evap emission control leak large

PO733
-Gear 3 ratio incorrect

Now, I was told that sometimes the mechanics don't know what the codes mean so the little readout definition of the code may be incorrect but they might be right, just let me know!! So what I need to know is if I can fix these problems myself or if I need to bring it in. Also if anyone has had these problems an estimated cost would be appreciated! Thanks!

The 455 is actually, P0455 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (gross leak)
You may want to let a mechanic track that down.
As for the 733, this or the 4th gear ratio incorrect are common in that they come up when there is actually something else that is the real problem.
I would bet that after the 455 code is corrected, you can clear both codes and be done with it.

Check all the vaccum lines between the gas tank and the engine - one of those can create a "large" leak.

best bet on the large leak is stop in your hometown mechanic and have a smoke test done. where they feed smoke into the evap system and find the leak. as a large leak is i thing .050 per sec with a 95in lbs press. and to tell the truth it's very small and very hard to find. the only way i know this is i work on all types of cars. i work in an inde. shop. i get it all as.,.. for the tranny code the car is getting older and the computer is seeing a diff in gear 3? not uncommon the bands stretch thay wear if it's not shifting hard or very soft i would leave it..if your not a leave it and see kind of guy bring it to a cottman transmission and have them road test it and do an elect. scan up here in the northeast it's free.where you are i dont know...lovin the d1 and d2 jay jay
