Question Right brake light not working when headlights are on?

Hey guys,

I am having a few issues with my tail lights. See my reverse lights don't turn on when I am reversing but they do turn on when I lock or unlock the car remotely, indicating that the bulbs aren't the issue.

My main concern however, is that when my headlights are off, my brake lights both work. The right one is slightly dimmer than the left one. When I turn on the head lights the tail lights do light up as well, but when I apply the brakes, the left tail light gets brighter like it should, and the top brake light comes on. The right tail light turns off completely though and I don't know why. I switched the bulbs and the same thing happens.

Any idea what this could be?

Also, I don't have a right bumper mounted tail light, if that makes a difference.

This is my first post, so i'm not sure if I'm missing any info, Thanks.

Just to rule it out replace that missing bumper bulb, should not make a difference but who know's.

Then check for corrosion in the taillight housing/connectors.
This was a common problem on the late model DII, water would leak into the taillight and cause it to short out.

I wrote that incorrectly I think, my reverse lights are my bumper mounted lights? I was missing the whole right lens so I just ordered one from British Pacific. If corrosion is the issue how do I go about fixing it? Also the license plate bulb, can I pick that up anywhere locally? Anywhere you would specifically recommend?

Yes you can get all bulbs locally, after all they are just light bulbs.
