It's good you mentioned this. Sometimes these thermostats are marked/stamped in Celsius on the inside.
If anyone wants to buy a soft spring 180F/82C thermostat, ask for the thermostat for an 2003-2007 Freelander.

For what it’s worth you can get a 180F by Motorad at Auto Zone for 33.00 locally. I’ve used several after not being to obtain the britpart unit & they’ve worked very well.

Thanks for the info. So I guess Im not going to waste my time with this one.

I've thought about it, but never actually believed they were 180!

The black Britpart which is stamped 78C inside (quick way to instantly verify if it’s an actual britpart unit vs el cheapo), the white/clear Motorad at Auto Zone, and the OEM LR Grey are 180F and I’ve verified them. If it’s not stamped inside, or if it’s just a generic looking unit that arrives in a bubble wrap bag = complete TRASH! Waste of time, $$, and coolant. If you get one = send it back.

I performed several test when Lucky8 sent me on a wild goose chase with an el cheapo 11.00 they sent me vs the 180F Britpart for 44.00 I supposedly ordered. After hearing people complain their black thermostats from Lucky8 were crap, I finally figured it out after what I got was NOT the 78C stamped black Britpart unit!! So all the people with issues that took my advice to buy the 180F black Britpart unit from Lucky8 actually received an 11.00 ebay no name wonder vs the Britpart unit which was so good!

I had an OEM Grey thermostat, a Motorad 180F from Auto Zone, the so called Britpart from Lucky8, an 11.00 black unit off Ebay I’d bought as a test, and I put em all in pot of water on the stove. The LR Grey, Motorad opened at almost the same time. The Lucky8 wonder, and the ebay el cheapo opened way way way later. So that proves without a doubt the el cheapo’s = are not 180F thermostats.

I discovered years ago how some thermostats are sold as a certain temp & when you actually get it = the temp is NOT what it’s supposed to be. I avoid any thermostat that isn’t clearly stamped. Or if I’m suspicious I slap in a pot for a rough estimate of when it opens.
