So apparently quick reply doesn't reply to the individual person but to the entire thread....I'll check out AAA and UltraGuage. "Make your dream a reality bitches" was the best reply so far
5 days haha...I don't plan on leaving until late summer, so by then I should know the truck a bit better.
That would be my advice, get a few miles under your belt with the truck so you know if there is anything else pending or what to expect. Then take it on the road trip.
I would in heartbeat - I did this last year after owning my Disco for all of 7 months about 1200 Miles mostly on FSR's. I had some issues with clamps, and caliper bolts (previous owner had the brakes done and the did not torque the left rear.
Once on the island and clear of Nanamio those are all small towns with lots of nothing in between
It sounds like a good test of the vehicle. I owned my truck for 6 months before a 1,500 mile trip, but it was the trip that showed the weak points the truck had. I replaced the power steering pump on the road, a couple of pulleys and the serpentine belt. Pack your checkbook and your tool kit!
Good idea to get your service history, particularly on HG. Almost anything else can be repaired on the road. I would carry a spare coil and CPS just so you don't have to pay expensive Autozone prices - you will need both eventually anyway. Always carry coolant, motor oil is good to have also. I would check the oil pressure before you leave, as long as it is good now you won't likely have a problem. Of course you need to carry tools or a credit card. Cheap insurance to replace the thermostat with the bypass mod. That would be my checklist for the trip.
Love these confidence inspiring posts! This Summer is going to be a Roverthon for us. (thats why I’m trying to get the 03 sorted and cramming some new parts and new goodies onto it as fast as I can) Love the enthusiasm! Good luck Jared and have fun!
