Road trip...what spare parts to bring?
#31
I just returned from the Nevada Desert again (4 hours each way on HWY, No Stops, LOTS of hills). This time, I was pulling my trailer hauling a buggy and going about 70mph most of the way due to the trailer limits. It was HOT, I mean REALLY HOT! 100-109 degrees. The DII did exceptional. Never got hot, never complained. It drove like any good vehicle should drive on a trip. A/C was on the whole time.
It did use a quart of engine oil on the trip, but that's the only fluid loss I found.
Also spent a full day running the DII in the hills, dunes, and dry creek beds while there because the buggy broke. Now, isn't that funny! The DII performed flawlessly and the buggy broke! Hmmm...

Just got back. High temps and loaded down with luggage and spare parts the entire time but had only one issue. When I crossed into FL, the tranny started slipping. Only did it on the lower gears and under med-hard acceleration. Checked the fluid level when I arrived and added 1/2 qt of fluid and the issue did not resurface either driving around while staying in FL, or on the drive back. If it's low though, it means there's a leak or the tranny is burning up fluid. Other than that though, I lost no oil or had any mechanical issues...whole family was comfortable! Now for an oil change.
