Default rocker arm/shaft play

I am doing the valley gasket on my DII. I have a tick from the drivers side of the valve cover. When I took apart the DS rocker assembly this is what I found:

The arms do have play on the shaft. You can see where the shaft is worn. Should I replace the arms/shaft?

In addition the date codes on the arms are 99. There is a bulletin about date codes prior to 00 having loose pushrod cups: http://www.landroverclubvi.com/uploa...ping_sound.pdf

I can get arms and shafts for both heads for $155 shipped from land-rover-parts-shop.com.

IMHO yes. That price beats the pants off the whole assembly price from Rovers North. My support towers would not come off with freezing the shaft, and hammering. But my wear is not as deep as yours.

I ordered the parts from land-rover-parts-shop.com and paid via paypal. My papal receipt is from Allmakes Ltd. I guess you can buy direct from allmakes.

I got the drivers side completely disassembled. The towers were tough to get off, but not as bad as yours (Buzz). I was able to twist them off, I did have to put a bolt through the shaft and another one part way through the tower to get more leverage to turn them.

I wont be able to work on it again until next weekend. Heading to the beach for the week. Hopefully the parts will be in by the weekend, but I don't think they will.

I got in in Nov with 104K and it now has almost 106K. I did do a seafoam treatment when I got it and a BG Quick Clean treatment a few hundred miles ago. I switched over to Rotella T6 when I got it.

Here's what it looked like when I removed the valve covers:

I hope that I don't have the issues that you have had putting yours back together.

You won't make the same mistakes I did. A brilliant man learns from others' mistakes.
