Default Roof mounted offroad lights

Has anyone mounted offroad lights in an aftermarket roof crossbar. Just want to know if anyone has done and if this cross bars are actually strong enough to hold lights on. I don't have a roof basket and the prices for things out are a little bit out of my budget at the moment, so I was thinking, perhaps install 1 or 2 together of those cross bars that attach to the existing roof rails and install a set of hella 4000 that I have (from my old TJ Jeep). I know that I can purchase a light mounting bar from the UK but what about if I use cross bars?...any comments will be appreciated.

Interesting proposal; just make sure it is legal in your state! With a couple of ubolts you could make your own light mounts pretty easily....

If you dont take your Disco off road, ignore my advice. If you take your Disco out on trails with a lot of trees i highly suggest not mounting lights like that, or finding a slim LED bar and calling it a day.I had high mounted lights on my last rig, and hated every minute of it on the trails, or in the woods. It wasnt just a matter of branches brushing the lights, but branches getting stuck between the and ripping them off etc. I flipped my lights upside down under the rack and have rolled this way since. It might look goofy but i dont have to constantly check my lights and replace parts.

Thank you guys, Busa ..now you give a idea and I may be going a different route. About putting a curved light bar on top and using my existing lights mounted into a bumper bull bar. Now I live in Bayonned, NJ but soon heading back to Florida where there is no rock climbing and wheeling for the most part consist of flat land and mud.
