Default Roof Rails

I was going to fix my sagging headliner and thought it would be a good time to do something with those pointless roof rails.

Option 1: Just get rid of them.

Option 2: Get another set of the rear mounts, saw the straight sections out of the rails making them shorter and moving them to the rear to cover the area of the alpine windows.

I thought with them moved to the rear I could easily mount a Thule basket when I needed it. Has anybody tried either one?

There are factory extension bars that do just that. They come up for sale from time to time

If you take them off post a pic. I have thought about doing the same thing.

I would like to install some newer style, like LR3, that sit flush on the back. having anything up there causes a ton of cabin noise. I'd also like something that could have a front air dam so it isn't like driving with a sail.
