Default Rotella T-6

Well, this is really more of a comment than a question, but Spike finally convinced me and I made the switch this morning to Shell Rotella T6 Full Synthetic 5W-40. I normally run Mobil 1 0W-40.

I can honestly say the engine runs a little more quiet.

Ditto, I switched back to Mobil 1 this change b/c of the oil/filter deal at Autozone and I actually noticed a difference. I'm going back to the Rotella once this OIC is up.

I've used Mobil 1 0w40, Mobil 1 5w40 and Rotella 5w40 and have not noticed much of a difference though the Mobil 1 0w40 really shines when it gets really cold. A 5w40 HDEO is thicker than a 0w40 at all temps (the M1 0w40 tends to shear to a 30 wt).

I hear you lipadj46...I recently moved from Washington state back to Texas, thus the change in weight...the Mobil 1 0w40 was great in the northwest.

Honestly, I tried finding the T-6 in a 10w40, but I could not find it...only in 5w40.

That's funny, I just changed my oil from M1 0w-40 to Rotella 5w-40 yesterday also. I could hear the lifters before and now all seems quieter, however the 0w-40 looked and probably was pretty beat after 3600 miles of hard driving. I used 0w-40 mostly because of the advanced auto deal and for cold weather but I'll probably just stick with Rotella year round.

After 168,000 miles of using nothing but Mobil 1 0w-40 with 10,000 mile oil change intervals (15k was the recommended) the engine in my work van blew up.
$12,000 later I use Rotella 15w-40 and change it every 5,000 miles now.

Just my 2 cents.... I use Rotella 15W40 in the summer and Rotella 10W30 in the winter. The 10W30 is getting harder to find though...

Hey, at least you guys can find it. In the Memphis area I have seen ONE quart of Rotella T6 in the week or so of looking. One.
