Default Rough Idle w/ ticking noise

hey all, hope all is well,
had land rover before but new to this forum,
bought a 2003 land rover disco in feb. 65,000 mi., rough idle, Land Rover said o2 sensors, wrong spark plugs,i replacedwith own bought wrong type of champion plugs, worked fine for 2-3 months then noticed lightticking @ 3k-4k rpm oil level fine. started idling very rough (almost spill your coffee) land rover said "all 8 cylinders miss-firing because wrong heat range plugs" (champion bought at local auto parts store). i bought newcorrect plugs from Land roverinstalled myself, still very rough idle and ticking remained. mobile car fixerfriend has computer pulled codes for miss fire on cylinders 5 & 7 . he saidfuel mixturewas @ +.25 it should be +0.00 says maybe valves aren't seating correctly recomends valve job,$$$$$$$ Moms boyfreind used to race minis in england and says it might just be needing a rocker adjustment or something.

i love land rover and i need to fix it fast or wife will sell it[:'(].
ican get another computer reading and post codes if it would help.
thank you all so much for reading my post. be well

Have you changed the plug wires? Others will chime in here but from your description sounds like they may be the culprit. Mine went at 45K.

You need new plug wires. A bad misfire will set off all sorts of codes. On my DI my plug wires just went south and set off the check engine light, the codes said bad O2 bank 2 sensor #2, replaced plug wires, cleared the codes and all is good.
A mis fire will dump fuel into the cat's and that will give a O2 code because the cats cant do their job and the ECU then reads them as out of adjustment and sets off a code, and anytime you get a O2 code what do you wantto do? Yup, replace the O2's.
So...you need new plug wires, Magnacor wires are the best wires for Rovers.

Before you throw any more money at your truck, go to your local auto parts store and have them read your codes, write them down and get back to us with the 4 digit fasult code number.

Also, auto parts store do not charge when reading the codes. They may reset them for you as well. I use my ScanGauge II for clearing pesky codes such as P0440 (sticking purge valve).

http://www.discoveryownersclub.org/tech/index.php

Use this website to look up the various codes you have. the p0305/7 are likely due to the spark plug wires. The other codes are either caused by the misfires and/or the O2 sensors are dead. Start with the wires and new Champion 7318's. The O2 sensors are rated by LR at approximately 120,000 miles life.

Cheers,

Pete
