Why do you ask?
There is a code for rough road but I don't believe there is a sensor.

For the '97 Disco, my GEMs manual says it in is the ECM... But I an not sure. I have not seen anything about this in my manual.

Default RE: rough road sensor?

Gents,

There is no rough road sensor. The way it works is that when a vehicle is driven over a washboard, potholed, or otherwise crappy surface, there is a resonance that occurs at the ABS sensor-to-target wheel location. If this is high enough in amplitude and the variation in air gap is severe enough it will throw a rough road code that the computer stores. In addition --- the computer programming is such that it will disregard any indication from the engine crank position sensor that normally would trigger a "multiple mis-fire" code --when the resonance is present at a ABS sensor/trigger wheel. This is a safeguard to avoid throwing the Check Engine Light on if the crank sensor itself is experiencing a vibration caused by the rough road conditions.

regards,

Geoman
