Default RTE old style D2 shock towers - install clarification

I have some old style RTE front shock towers for my D2, and have never installed them. I am going to install them and a sort of suspension newbie question. It looks like the mounting points for the 4 studs on the bottom of the shock towers will line-up either way I place them in regard to the top shock mounting bolt going left-to-right or front-to-back. I know the stock shock towers top mounting bolt goes left-to-right, and that would seem to be the best way, but does it matter? I know some shocks have a single shaft with a nut on top, so was just wondering. Thanks for any input.

I don't recall that it matters but I did mine so the bolt lined up like factory, seemed like a safe bet.

They won't, it's offset. It looks like it's a square, but it isn't

OK, well I have them installed with the bolt front-to-back, and they mounted and lined up. I was just curious because as I looked at it when I was done, it seemed the bolt should be left-to-right as the factory shock towers were.

Front to back is correct for the RTEs

Yep x2 on RTE being front to back. On the OEM shock towers whenever I do a lift I rotate the towers 180 degree’s so the bolts can easily be removed.
