Default running poorly

I have an 01 Discovery with 52K miles on it and recently is has begun to run funny. When I am driving in both stop and go and highway traffic and i take my foot off the gas, the vehicle makes a loud banging sound and jumps noticeably. Then when I give it gas, there is sometimes the same banging sound before it will accelerate. It does this daily, but not every time. I have taken this to the mechanic and of course they couldnt replicate it. Any idea of what this might be??

Do not drive it again untill you crawl under your truck and inspect all 3 u-joints on the front drive shaft, make sure they all have grease fittings, if not get it rebuilt tomorrow before you tear a hole in your transmission.
If you have any questions call me.

I'd say about $100 in parts (maybe a bit less)and $100 in labor (maybe a bit more). A new one goes for about $300 and involves very little labor to replace, so don't spend more than that.
