Help for a poorly Disco on a 98 R reg
Hi, I'm new and desperate for help. We have a 300TDi Disco. 98 Plate on a 'R' reg. Her wheel bearing has gone, and apparantly it will work out cheaper putting a new hub on. That's fine, but the guy who is fixing it has told us it is a Canadian export Model. It has never been exported as we have been able to track it back to the 2 previous owners. Did Land Rover make different versions for export to Canada? We've owned it for 1 1/2 years and never had any problems, apart from replacing quite a few bits and pieces and a lot opf welding! and now this. It's gone from being a car which I loved to a car which I am begining to loathe. I've wanted one since they first came out. Could this guy be right?
Any help gratefully received

Meant to also say, we have cheched the VIN and it's a European one. R/H Drive, everything is spot on. Get the feeling we have been told the wrong info by this guy. And all the work that has been done on it so far I think someone would have noticed if it was an export model if they are different.

Hi,
No lights at all. What happened was there was a banging fom underneath at the front, then all of a sudden there steering went really heavy. But it was very different from when the track end rod went. When it was recovered home, offside front wheel had far to much moovement on it. Apparantly the hub is totally gone beyond repair. Hopefully it is going to get sorted tomorrow, along with a new clutch put in. We have been told to off load it, but since October we have spent so much money on it personally I think it is better the devil you know!

well if it is the hub the part is available for $120 USD.

the clutch will cost around $600 USD.
most of all the labor will be costly.
did you hear any noises upon acceleration?

Hi, Bought a clutch kit for £94 from MM's in UK, also bought some bits and pieces for the bearing from them also. Hubby's friend is putting the clutch in for £125 which is good. Used to go to a place in County Durham where he was Land Rover through and through, so miss him very much. He never once told us to get rid of it.
