Default Runs ok but pipes cherry red

Just finished a soft rebuild on 1995 land rover discovery. The engines running ok and not overheating but exhaust from manifold to cats is glowing redhot. Am I missing something here or is that normal? First time to tackle a rover. Previously all I have worked on was 351 windsors and 4.6 mods. Would appreciate some input. Thanks

That is not normal. I wouldn't drive it until you get some feedback from Spike or DiscoMike.

It was doing that when I first put back together. I put on new cats and new o2 sensors but that hasn't solved it. Maybe MAS? Or something with injectors? I have found out this a different beast than a ford or chevy. I am trying to figure it out myself but if worse comes to worst I'll take it too a shop. Mechanics are expensive in interior Alaska though.

I'm thinking it has something to do with the valve timing. Do you smell raw fuel in the exhaust? Do you see blue smoke? When you say "soft rebuild," what exactly did you do?

what cats did you use? There is a blockage between your heads and cats. I would not drive it until you get this fixed.

Soft rebuild as in gaskets bearings and seals. Magnaflow cats and exhaust. I'm taking it in to a shop cause I just don't have all the diagnostic stuff. I'm hoping it's nothing drastic. Will post the findings next Wednesday

I sure has hell would not drive it. It can't run OK and be turning the manifolds red, you are about to have a fire, and Disco's, because of all of the aluminum, will burn to the ground in a heart beat.
