Default Runs rough then dies...

Truck is a 2002 Disco II, with 124k miles and after sitting overnight on cold mornings 30 degrees or so the truck will start with no problem and then idle at 1500 rpms, but after 20 to 30 seconds it quickly drops to 300 RPMs runs real rough and dies.

It will restart ok and do the same thing unless I keep it rev'ed up around 2000 RPMs for a minute or so, then runs a bit rough until it warms up a little then runs fine. This seems to only happen when the truck is being started after a cold night sitting out, if the outside temp is warmer say 50 degrees or so, it starts and runs fine.

I've replaced the following within the last 10k miles...
Plugs and wires
All 4 O2 sensors
Air & Oil Filters
MAF

The truck hasn't thrown any codes yet, is there a sensor going bad somewhere??? What I'm I missing...

Check your crank sensor.

Crank sensor normally acts up when hot.
Who's plugs and wires did you install, what octane gas are you using?
I would suggest you clean your t/body and idle control solenoid next.
Let us know how it goes.

Thanks DiscoMike...

Plugs and wires are from Atlantic British, I believe Bosch Double Platinum plugs and I not sure who made the wires.

Also I run Premium gas (91) octane

When you say t/body do you mean the MAF? Also, where would I find the idle control solenoid...what does it hook up to?

Thanks!

If your wires are 7MM, you wasted your money. The double plats won't run right with them. Get some 8MM. Do NOT clean your MAF. you will kill it if you spray anything on it. Your t-body is where the plastic hose connects to the intake. There is a butterfly valve on the inside. The TPS and Idle control are right there. Don't mess with the TPS. You can pull and clean the idle control. I would get a RAVE manual and go through it for the exact location of things. It is in Mike's sig.

Thanks okdiscoguy...

Regarding the wires I don't know, but they are probably 7mm, I'll call AB...If I'm screwed on the wires (there a fairly new purchase) would you recommend that I run the Champion plugs instead? Or should I just get the 8mm wires.

Thanks!

I would put 8MM wires on. I don't really think this is your problem, though. I would clean the t-body and check for vacuum leaks.

get the 8mm wires, if you put the champions back in you start to get misfires. you can get them cheapest from Apex Performance.
