Default Rust prevention advice?

Hey all! I've been looking at adding a Range Rover Classic to the stable and while doing research notice just how wrecked those trucks get from rust. Got me thinking about ways to prevent rust on our Discos. My D2 is currently 100% rust free and I'd like to keep it that way if possible. Any advice? I saw Waxoyl (sp?) mentioned a bunch in the RRC forums.

I've read waxoyl isn't the best method.
Keep washing it all on the outside, inside the door jams, and especially underneath. If you live in a colder area that uses salt/brine on the roads, you can wash the underside with warm water and baking soda to neutralize the salt and acids.

Go to your local rust control centre get it sprayed with oil

I use Fluid Film, which is some sort of sheep extract (don't ask me how they extract it). It'll last a couple months, and works basically the same as spraying with oil minus the rolling environmental disaster oil will turn your vehicle into.

I've heard that the bolts that mount the trailer hitch assembly to the frame can prevent debris inside the frame from passing through to drain holes, acting as a dam of sorts. I don't tow with the Disco; is it advisable to remove the tow assembly altogether?

I don't tow with my disco either but it makes for a great skid/slider when offroad as the *** end in these things is almost always dragging lol also it is a great easy to access recovery point with a shackle insert (blanking on what it's actually called...)
