sai completely removed
just chaning my oil this afternoon. general inspection under the hood brought my attention to my sai. the mounting bolts completely gone. the pump was just roughly sitting in the bracket thing with no mounting bolts holding it on. they are like a weird rubber with a thread on the end... hard to describe.
question, how can re-mount the pump?
better question, do i have to have sai? for the moment i simply removed the entire unit. just unplugged the electrics and pulled the hose off. if i run it this way, will it hurt anything?
i figured while it's off i'll clean the filter (that is if i actually need to put it back on, which i assume i probably should).
recap:
1. do i really need sai? i'm in nevada and we do have smog tests with registration
2. how can re-mount the pump?
thanks

Bet it will make codes to prevent you passing the test. Those rubber "shock mount" bolts are like the same ones that hold on the air filter box on a D1. Parts store may sell several generic sizes.

If they test for emissions you'll need the pump. Shouldn't hurt to not have it for a little while I suppose.

If you remove the pump to make repairs, other then throwing codes, on a short term basis, you won't hurt any thing.
Your truck emissions will rise but the engine will be OK. Just remember when you go to sell it, the truck by Federal law must have and you will be responsible to the buyer to have all of the system up and running.

You can leave the SAI off until you need to pass emissions.
The check engine light will be on with a manufacture's specific code.
Eventually, the ECU will notice the SAI is gone and put the CEL on.
With that said, there must be a pressure sensor just for the SAI somewhere.
As I ran mine with the output hose disconnected and finally got a CEL.
The SAI only runs at startup in when the engine is completely cold.
It will run for a brief time when you come off of a long run on the highway and go to idle.
Stupidest thing I have ever seen as it is huge complexity to cure pollution for a one minute interval at engine start from cold.

Leave it off and move down here, all they check for inspection is that all your lights work. I came from Pa where inspection is brutal. They checked my lights and put a sticker on for $5.00. I was speechless.
It would be good to get rid of the oxygen sensors and the SAI completely and fit an efficient exhaust system - any body done that?
I have a Triumph Bonneville too and everybody does it. A 50ohm 10a resistor goes in the o2 Cct and the whole lot is disconnected. Increases power with an ECU remap.
