Default Sanity check - Do these cold starts sound normal?

Ignore the power steering pump whine, what I'm honing in on is a higher-pitched knock maybe? Probably an exhaust leak but also wondering if it could be sticky lifties or anything more serious. Here's two different vids to give you more angles on the sound. I don't recall our 4.6 sounding like this, but it also had 110K fewer miles so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Cold start 2:

Thanks all!

Yep, exhaust leak. Have you done the leaf blower/shop vac test?

I did after posting this and yet agaaaaiiiinn bubbles forming around the manifold/y-pipe. I can’t ever get that joint leak free. Feels like I’ve tried everything over the years.

Sounds better than my 03 with 190k.
But overall sounds fine, definetely a slight exhaust leak but I wouldnt worry about lifters or anything else.

Sounds like you may need power steering fluid also.

Yeah, sounds bog standard normal to me (barring power steering and yes, maybe a slight exhaust leak which doesn’t even sound very bad to me - does it go away when hot?)

Aye, no, actually just a whiny-on-arrival power steering pump. Saga: https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...reason-107622/
