Default Scored a 03 Brush Guard! Don't know how to install it...

Just when I thought it could never happen, I got a OEM 03-04 Brush Guard off ebay... So here is the issue:

The seller did the typical "pickup only" thing, but I will be 10 miles from him in NY for the 4th of July Holiday, so my plan is to figure out what I am doing, take the tools with me and install it while I am up there.

I have been searching the forum and found a link to the 99-02 DII brush guard install, but cannot find anything on the 03.

Anyone completed this project?

Bolt it on and have a beer

You'll have to pull some pieces off of your bumper to get access to the mount points and then most likely trim some holes for the mounting points to slip through the bumper.

When people are talking about Cutting and Drilling in the other posts, they are all talking about cutting plastic to access the mounting points, not actually drilling metal to create the mounting points, right?

that is correct. cut the plastic off the bumper (its stamped where it needs to be cut), the holes are already drilled in your frame. get yourselff some good hardware i use grade 8 1/2" bolts from Mcmaster carr. easy job

The "holes" in my bumper are about vertical rectangular 3"-4" tall, by about 1/2" wide. Just enough for the mounting brackets to slip through.

Benjamin,
Go ahead and post a picture of the mounting ends of your guard. I will most likely pull the mounting hardware off of my 04 tomorrow when I put on my steering guard. I can send them to you if you cover the shipping costs. I had the land rover A bar.

Let me know.
Thanks,
Dave

Hunter, I will definitely take you up on that offer, thank you. The seller has yet to make contact with me but I have asked him for more pictures. Here is the original listing which shows the guard from the front: land rover discovery 2 brush guard | eBay

Benjamin,
I pulled the adapters today, and have the brush bar attachment bolts. To fit it properly, you will need to remove the bumper and cut the holes in it. Having just removed my bumper, I can help you out. I'll weigh all the pieces and let you know the shipping charges.

Best,
Dave

Hunter, Saw you finished the steering guard, looks great. Please find attached pictures of the Brush Guard, the seller got back to me, it comes with only the hardware shown in the picture. Let me know if this looks familiar and payment info. Thank you again.

Hi Benjamin,
Yes, I had the version without the sides that go around the headlights, so have all of the correct hardware - two frame attachments and four bolts. I'll have to check postage on Monday and will PM you.

You will have to pull the bumper and cut out some slots in the fairing on either side of the bottom mesh grill.

Best,
Dave
