I added a bottle to the oil for a couple days when I first got the truck. Don't wanna run it too long. Then just run a quality oil like the Rotella most everyone uses to keep your engine gunk free.

I also use a bottle in the gas every few months. I dunno if it actually does much, but its cheap insurance.

I never paid seafoam much attention, until...

My wife's LR3 had a cylinder 8 misfire with a SES light. After switching coil and plug for diagnostics I narrowed it to the injector.

Ran 2 bottles of seafoam, half a bottle per tank and the misfires and code went away. I didn't even clear the code.

I use it to clean throttle plates. It works good for that. Not sure about anything else. Probably won't hurt anything. I don't think I would try the intake cleaning. I would worry that the cats wouldn't like it.

You don't hear many success stories about Seafoam. It's seems, on this forum anyway, that Seafoam causes more problems than it solves. Killing O2 sensors ( there are four of them @ $65 a pop minimum), throwing codes etc. I wouldn't put it in my motor.

I've never heard any confirmed stories of Seafoam killing O2 sensors, only rumors. Also, only the fronts are $65. The rears are $45. I've also never even heard the rumors about standard seafoam, but instead only the kind that you inject directly into the intake.

Ok. Keep dumping that snake oil in your motor and get back to us. Another tip, when you pay $45 for O2's go ahead and get 4. You'll need them.

There's no reason to get hostile. I was trying to give you the opportunity to present some kind of information other than second hand rumors.

That said, its never caused me any issues and I will continue to use it unless I'm given some kind of actual data instead of snarky remarks.

Haha, GIVING me the opportunity? Thanks, bud. Really.

Here is my data:

At my parts store you can find Seafoam on the sucker isle right next to "Marvel Mystery Oil".

To the OP: pass on the Seafoam. Use a high detergent oil and change at regular intervals
