Ok kids, did a search and have not found anything. I am going to try to put heated leather power seats from an 01 into my 97. I am getting all of the electrics and the seats this weekend. I am wondering if anyone out there has tried it. I know that there will be a lot of fabbing to get them to fit, and after measurement, I think I can.

I am going from manual cloth seats, so I am getting all of the electrics and center console as well. I am an electronics engineer, so that part doesn't bother me. I have already looked at the donor vehicle, and the front end is fine, so no worry about the tensioners being blown.

Anyone attempted this?

 

I have another complete set of seat bought 5 years ago. Exactly as the original. I would like to mount additional 2 front seats in replacement of the rear passenger seats so my kids can recline them on long trips. I got them with the center console too with the wiring harness and switches but never had the chance to do them yet. In time, I'll do it.
okdiscoguy: Got a question for you since your an electronics engineer if you dont mind.
One of my Disco projects was installing a desktop computer in the truck and its done 4 years ago. On long trips, getting gas is a problem since I have to shutdown and restart the computer connected to an inverter. Imagine how all electronic accessories loose power upon starting the car. I would like to know what connection possible so the computer will just keep running even I start the engine again on short stops without shutting it down? An APS is too bulky for the application because it has to power a 300-400 watt computer. Regarding battery, I'm running duals already. Thanks

 

LR03 to keep from losing power while starting you will need to run your power directly from the battery.
All modern cars electric's are designed to shut down during start up to allow max power from the battery to the starter.
That way they can use a smaller battery to save weight.

 

Yup, what Spike said. You have to run totally independant. Even then, your amp draw from the starter may be too much, but if you are running dual batteries you should be ok. If it still draws too much, look into an isolator, like they use on marine applications and run from your secondary to your inverter.

Okdiscoguy: Regarding the seats. The driver side has more connectors to the console since it has more functions than the passenger seat. I have some pictures for you later how it look like connected under the seat and inside the console. You just need to tap power for the switches.

 

I am going out to pull everything myself. I am going to get all of the wiring and switches back to where it hits raw power.

I am just concerned about everything fitting....
