Secondary Air Injection... Do I have it?
I need to buy a radiator and I need to know if I have SAI. How can I tell? I know I should know this but I don't sorry. Searches didn't help. I have a '03 Disco II "S" model. I guess "S" stands for stripped because it has no options! Anyway, any help is appreciated. Pointing me to deals on radiators would be helpful too. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Alex, yes, no leather, heated seats, sunroof, air suspension, CD, etc. They are plain aren't they. But, I suppose none of that stuff is there to break either.....

Most S models I ever saw at the Dealers had Leather seats installed vs the vinyl seats. CD Changer wiring should be there. Rear air suspension isn't something you want, and 16's on the S are preferred by the off road crowd vs the SE/HSE 18's. Also not having sunroofs means two less places that won't leak.
Most late 02, 03, and 04 D2's will have SAI. Very easy to tell. If you have a black pump behind the passenger side mounted under the hood fuse box, and two silver stacks on each side of the engine connecting to the heads, and a long silver pipe running behind the engine connecting the two stacks then yep SAI. If you have no pump, no stacks, and no silver pipe then you're D2 doesn't have SAI, but I'm willing to bet it does.
I am so happy my 02 Kalahari does not have SAI as it makes the engine bay look as roomy as my 98 D1's 4.0L!!!!

Something small like 3% of US spec 03 had non-sai engines. I actually picked up the computer to sell or loan to a guy in the UK that does engine computer reprogramming. If he doesn't want it I'd sell it to someone else. To put it in another disco you'd have to have the BCU security sync done. And to put it into a car that had sai you'd have to make some changes. I bought it for the idea of putting a non-sai 4.6 (like from a p38 or disco with the sai ports plugged) into a non-sai disco and having the correct 4.6 fuel maps. Though I'm not sure how much that is really needed.
