Help ! parked the truck last night. Tried to start it today and the idiotic **@# alarm system wont let it start. It cranks fine but wont run. Battery is charged, key fob works to lock and unlock and key turns on ignition. I get all the indicator lights (dash lights up like a Christmas tree). turn signals and side lights flash in unison. Horn honks if provoked ! Any suggestions on how to reset the alarm system?

It happened to me in the south of France many years ago with my 2000 V8. You'll probably find it's inline with a cellphone signal or EMF source and that's interfering with the alarm system. Open the hood, disconnect the battery for 20 minutes to allow to reset (don't forget your radio/satnav code) preferably move the location 20 yeards or so and importantly ensure you don't have any cellphone anywhere near the truck either switched on or off. My cellphone even screws up my TD5 from time to time and the worst was parked in an EMF field outside the hospital x-ray dept, the tow truck moved it 300 yards and it opened and started on the button, initially I thought the tow truck guy was nuts, he proved me wrong, he'd had the same problems 3 times previously.

Hi, and thank you very very much for the reply. I tried your suggestions but to no avail. The alarm system is alive and filled with vengeance.

I've also disconnected the battery for at least twenty minutes, re-connected and the alarm will not reset. I've tried the unlock/lock 3 times using the key fob and actually inserting the key into the door lock and repeating the lock/ unlock procedure 3 times and the demon still lives in the alarm system.

Perhaps calling a priest to bless the truck may help . But that's almost as expensive as the LR dealer with neither offering a warranty.

What to do now ? Is there any way to completely eliminate the alarm system or at least eliminate it's control over the engine and lights, horn, etc.?

Have you tried the "How to" sticky post info?
