Default Self inflicted radio issue

I have an 04 Disco. The radio is stock and has the Land Nav system.
Well, Apparently the procedure to remove the radio is different from the other D2s. The slits on my radio are near the bottom and require a different motion to remove the locking mechanism.
I slid the metal file hanger in, on the left side, too far. The metal became stuck and I noticed some smoke coming from the radio
.
The left side of the radio, in the back, is where the power connection enters the radio.Im guessing I caused an electrical issue with the radio. As it will not turn on anymore. Everything else elctronic is still working. The red light on the radio still blinks but the radio does not respond to the "ON" button.
I checked the radio fuse and it is not blown.
Is there something else I can check before I have to buy another radio? Is there an after market radio that is a direct fit for this 2004 Disco?

Sounds like you shorted something out. I'd recommend a new head unit. Anything 160 watt or 200 watt should sound decent. Any single DIN should fit in the factory hole. If you like the Nav i'd recommend sticking with a 7" fold out Nav system.

Some radios have a fuse on the radio itself, so take a peek when you extract the dead one.

If you want another stock nav unit I have one laying around.
