Default To sell or to swap....that's the question..

Well, after a long time to the rover being out of commission for blowing a rod ( after spending a lot on the truck ) we are at the crossroads now.
do we sell the truck as is for parts? or do we swap the motor?
wondering how much we could get for the truck ....?
will post pictures and a list of what done to the truck..
thanks in advance

Hi there,

I'd say if you have time, swap the motor. I noticed you're fairly close. You can find good used running 4.0s around here for fairly cheap ~$6-800 or so from junkyards. Or upgrade to the 4.6 from the 99-02 range rover for more power. car-part.com is useful for searching.

Selling on craigslist or Facebook marketplace seems to be the easiest in my experience, but without a running engine, I doubt most people would pay more than $1k for it, even if it is in great condition. A bit more perhaps if there are a lot off-road parts.

A real shame. Depending on the age, model, mileage and condition of the truck determines whether it's worth fitting a new engine or parting it out and selling for spares. I know which way I would go but it is entirely your choice, as selling it with a blown engine will fetch relatively peanuts, $1000 or less.
