Default Series I & II interchange/purchase help

Hi,

I'm a 2000 Disco II owner and am looking at a 96 Disco I to work on as a project with my husband. Eventually it will be an off roading vehicle. I guess what I'm wondering is, is there anything on the series I that (secifically tires/wheels) that I can change out onto my series II? Also, what should we be looking for on the series I that may make it not worth buying....its $1600....

This is my first project car (hubby has completely done his own Jeep into an offroad)and I just want to make sure I know what I'm looking for as potential problems with the 96.

Thanks in advance for your help!

The wheels have a different bolt pattern, the D1 is run by Lucas where the D2 is Bosh, that manual transmission could swap over, not sure if you would want to though. The drive trains are different, nearly everything is really different.
Wish I could be more help for you,
Mike
