serious engine question.... help please!!

if the block is the problem then just get a four six lower block and be done with it. the heads are the problem child. if they are good then you are fine.

Well it cause the check engine light to be on all the time or something?

If I do not put SAI back on my rover, will the check engine light constantly stay on and come right back on after I clear the codes.. Sorry if I didn't word that correctly our make any sense!

Yes, it will. SAI and non-SAI have different EVAP systems. Even if you swap ECMs you'll still have the issue.

So I found a 4.0 with 65k miles and SAI for $1900, do you think that's a pretty reasonable price?

Agreed, great price. Motors with over 100K go for more than that but I'd really look in the the mileage just because unless it's been a replacement motor 4.0s with that kind of mileage are very rare.. they're out there but just make sure your not being sold a bad bill of goods.

I'd also do lots of frequent changes for a while as if it's an original motor with only 65K it's probably pretty nasty inside.

I agree with both Spike's and tee's comments. I paid $2500 for a 4.0 with 80K miles and a 1 year warranty almost 4 years ago,
