Default Serpentine Belt

I have an 02 Disco II with 88,000 miles. I just replaced the serpentine belt. As soon as I replaced it, the AC unit started to make a squealing noise sometimes when I turn it on. Its sporadic. As soon as I turn it off, the squealing stops. Turn it straight back on, no squealing. Coincidence or did I damage something? Serpentine belt seems fine.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Routing is wrong or you have the wrong belt. Squeeling equals a loose belt. Did you compare the new belt to the old one by chance? Have you ever changed the tensioner?

Dirt between the belt and pulley will cause what you're describing. Mine does that on dusty trails now and then.

Remember there are 2 different sized belts for a Disco depending if you have ACE or not.

Have you ever replaced the idler pullies or the belt tensioner, they do wear out and a weak tensioner will not keep the proper tension on your belts, causing squeals.
Do you know where the alignment marks are on the belt tensioner to verify if it is tight enough?
