Im sure this question has been answered many times. My service engine soon light (yellow) cam on while driving tonight. I don't notice any changes in the performance. What is my next step? Is it codes? Where do I get those read? This is my first issue w/ my 01 so I dont even have a mechanic I trust. I di change the oil just over a week ago. Any advice please let me know. Thanks.

It is a code of some sort. Go to autozone and get the codes read and get back to us with them.

...like lipadj46 says...get the codes read then we can help

Trust yourself.....when time/money permits..invest in a code reader...probably the best

Get the codes read today to make sure you are not going to do additional damage by continuing to drive it.
