service engine light!

Disonnect the battery cables and hold them together for like 30 seconds. That should clear the check engine light, but if there is a problem with the truck, it will come back on.

will running the engine with an aftermarket gas cap cause service engine soon light to show? cause i cleared the codes and the light came back on about 15 minutes after clearing the codes. the odbI display doesnt show a code and they only thing thats different is da gas cap. the OG gas cap is lost!

Yes a bad/wrong/missing gas cap can set off a trouble code as a EVAP leak.
You can use a aftermarket gas cap but it must be a NON-VENTED cap.
