SES amber light on, need a little advice.
My wifes 2003 disco's SES amber light came on yesterday. Its due for an oil change at 53k but currently has 51k. Is this on because of an upcoming oil change or something more serious?
the reason i ask is because we are planning on heading out saturday for our 4th of july holidaytour of the south east and the local dealer cant get us in until monday. Does driving the car with the light on for another 500 miles hurt anything? I was thinking of getting it serviced / oil change on monday but at a dealership at our first stop in nashville.
TIA

You need to go by a local auto parts store like Auto Zone and ask then to scan your truck for fault codes, write the code numbers down and get back to us. This is not a service light it is a indicator of a engine problem which needs to be looked at sooner then later.

brought the '03 in for service at LR of Knoxville while on our trip to S.C. They replaced the fuel cap and told me #4 and #6 spark plug wires are 'leaking' and need to be replaced. They didn't have them in stock nor was there time so we drove on. The light came back on and then it started to hesitate and tremble at low speeds. We made it through the whole trip (2,500 miles) and back home now. I'm thinking about doing the spark plugs and wires myselfsince warranty doesnt cover them.
Is there a DIY onspark plugs and wires? Is it difficult? anyone have some advise? What spark plugs and wires whould i get to replace the OEM's?
TIA

So you are out of warranty, I would suggest you do yor 60K tune up early and don't use any more of the Rover Wires, buy a set of 8mm Magnacor wires and a set of Bosch Platium Plus 4' plugs. Yes the wires are hard to install but they can be done. When you get ready to do this send me your tele number and I'll walk you thru this.
Don't keep running on the 2 tired cylinders or you will trash your cats.

Go with the 8MM Magnacor wires and Bosch +4 plugs. This will be the cheapest you can find them: http://lrrforums.com/store/index.php...p;productId=25
From what I understand, you have to take off the intake on a D2. Haven't done plugs abd wires, but I am sure someone on here can walk you through it. If you are stumbling, don't drive much. You need to get teh wires and plugs replaced soon.

Discomike youve convinced me on the Maganacor 8mm wires and Bosch Plugs. I'm going to have my wife call around to find an indy who can install provided the price is reasonable. the only other choice is to havethe stealership do the 60k service an add the plug wires to it.
