Default SES Light - Codes P0455 and P0327

Hi all,

OK, so my SES light is on and I'm throwing codes P0455 and P0327. I read the description of the codes (Evap Leak and Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Low Input), but am looking for advice on where to start fixing the issues.

Also, can I reset the light myself without a scanner?

Thoughts?

No, you will need to fix the faults then use a scanner to clear them
The 327 is a bad knock sensor on bank 1, the 455 is a gross evap leak, sometimes a bad gas cap but usually a bad leak that needs to be repaired.

Next time you put the gas cap on, look at it sideways and watch it screw in, it often clicks with 2-3 turns still left to go because they stop fitting at some point. That is where to start on the P0455.

Could the two codes be related? I mean, I had no SES light at all (and hadn't for at least two years) and then when it came on and I got the codes read, they were both there. Logically, it would seem they are linked somehow, but I know logic doesn't always apply to my Disco!

Also, what do you think of this scanner? http://www.amazon.com/OBDLink-SX-Int.../dp/B004IAGNNG

Any thoughts on these two items?

Your are either not thinking or thinking too hard, no, an evap fault can not effect a knock sensor.

Thinking too hard! I couldn't relate the two, but did see another post on here somewhere with those two codes coming up together, so thought I might be missing something.

Any thoughts on an inexpensive, but effective, OBD scanner?

Go to , CanOBD2.com - Tools find one above the 3100 and then go the Amazon.com where you can buy it for cheap. I use a 3130 with great results.

disco2 225k miles

same codes popped up po455 and po327.

although codes are unrelated seems like maybe something going on with ses for these codes to come together...im monitoring if the codes come back may gas tank is 1/3 full...and temps outside are 100...i wonder is that has anything to with that?
