The shuttle valve is kind of a bitch to get to. I attempted Option B but the valve itself was just too far gone. Had to swap in a fresh one (eBay, $58).
First off, access is a total pain and 4mm hex key was just a pain. I'm a tool horse so I got one of the Wiha 71988 mini ratchets ($88). This thing is super handy. Doesn't come with the 4mm hex so I had to get the little 1/4" bit set, Wiha 71397 ($5). Wiha is a pricey but they're life savers for such a tight area.
Otherwise, install was pretty straight forward. Like everyone else mentions, unclip the lines and you can get enough room to access underneath the unit. I used a custom made tool to prop the unit up:
Just a tremendously pro, twin 3/4" strips of plywood. Make sure you take the power steering fluid reservoir off the post, otherwise you might crack it.
