Current price from UK should be about $350 delivered etc.

I found the Britpart site somewhat lacking for info and ease of navigating compared to info directly from Lynx. My understanding is Lynx develops/produces and Britpart has a marketing agreement?

You are correct. The Lynx is produced by Omitec who also produce the OEM Landrover T4 System and is a huge international software and hardware company. The other systems, Haweye and Nanocom rely on the Omitec platform also, in there lies the problem, Nanocom are a small company albeit quite good but have changed hands at least once so their relationship with Omitec is tenuous. Bearmach (Hawkeye) is another marketing leg of Britpart as is Allmakes. IMO it is better to go directly to Britpart than to tenuous subsidiaries who have 'contract only' agreements with Omitec. As you will see, Continental, the German tire maker and industrialists have bought Omitec specifically for their knowledge base.

Continental Corporation -Continental takes over diagnostics specialist Omitec

Pound down more, as of 10-10-16 should be about $335 shipped for the Lynx.

I'm leaning more towards Lynx. I got a few older Mac laptops with WinXP/Win7 on them that I can use with the Lynx interface.

I'm using a mongoose cable (less than $50) with Land Rover dealer diagnostic software SDD on a neat Win7 32-Bit laptop. This also works without connection to the car. I was amazed how much info on the different parts of the car is in there.

I have a Hawkeye that I'm very happy with and it has the brake bleed function. I also have a scangauge II that will read codes, but I think it will only clear the powertrain codes and not the other systems. Its a nice little gauge for keeping an eye on mpg and temp and clearing P0--- codes.

Good choice, I use a Lynx with a tab and it gives you everything you'll need on a D2 and some other later LR's. Take advantage of the weak sterling at the moment and get one cheap.

Default I'd go with the hawkeye

The lynx has functioned well for me as a code reader, but I've been really disappointed with Britpart's lack of customer support and the Lynx's lack of accessibility in regards to what they claim are its programming functions: https://landroverforums.com/forum/ge...ailures-82623/

My experience is that you won't be able to use the Lynx's programming function without some 18-digit mystery code that neither Britpart nor Land Rover can/will identify. I'd go with the tried-and-true.

Are you refereeing to the 18 digit code required to program keys? As far a s Know most if not all key programing capable devices need the 18 digit key code. When you buy a brand new key from the dealer it come with the 18 digit code for that key. When you're using an old key that you're trying to program to a new car and you don't have the 18 digit code there is a nice forum member who developed a spreadsheet that uses the code on the back of the key to create a new 18 digit code. I have successfully used the spreadsheet and lynx to reprogram old keys to my d2.

Thanks. I will check it out. I actually have the tag from the dealer for some of the keys, however, and it's only a 16-digit code. I will play around with it some more.
